Vision Statement
All students at Walt Whitman Middle School are encouraged to take ownership and responsibility in achieving success to reach their highest academic potential in a positive and respectful learning environment.
All students have equitable access to a rigorous curriculum to prepare them for high school and postsecondary education. School counselors support students in identifying and removing barriers to achievement while strengthening their ability to become goal-directed and self-advocates. As a result, our students are resilient global citizens of the 21st century.
Our Mission
The mission of the Walt Whitman Middle School Counseling Program is to provide equitable access to a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program that enhances the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students from a diverse background based on the American School Counseling Association National model.
School counselors work to disaggregate data to decrease achievement gaps of all students, by name and by need, to ensure students are provided with high-quality education. Through collaboration with colleagues, parents, and community members, our students will acquire the knowledge and skills to successfully transition to high school and attain college/career readiness to become productive members of society.
