Emergency Assistance

If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.

 

United States Army Red Cross

The Fort Belvoir Red Cross is located in Building 1161. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Red Cross is open to anyone and offers counseling and help with personal, financial and family problems.

 

Army Emergency Relief (AER)

Army Emergency Relief (AER) can provide emergency financial assistance to eligible Soldiers and their dependents for food, rent, utilities, emergency transportation, vehicle repair, medical/dental expenses, and essential personal items if pay is delayed or stolen. Assistance is given in the form of an interest free loan, grant, or part loan and part grant. To receive AER assistance, personnel having a valid emergency need must process the AER application through their unit commander prior to contacting the AER office at Army Community Service for an appointment. AER is located in Building 1263 Phone:  571.231.7001.

 

Information and Referral

The Army Community Service Information & Referral Program is located in Building 1263, 571.231.7001. Information & Referral provides an extensive resource listing for a variety of agencies in the military and civilian community. This program links Soldiers and families with available and appropriate resources to meet their needs.
